G20 in Hamburg: Not only riots

On 8 August 2017, a Solidarity without Borders demonstration took place in Hamburg, Germany. According to the police, more than 20 000 people from all over Europe protested against the G20 global leaders summit organised in the city centre. The protestor’s main demands were: to provide help to asylum seekers, stop environmental exploitation and to condemn the non-democratic policies of Vladimir Putin, Recep Erdoğan and Donald Trump. In contrast to the violent protests seen on previous days, the demonstration passed peacefully through the main streets, ending in the Sant Pauli neighbourhood, although small clashes between police and partygoers occurred in the evening.
