Does Central Eastern Europe exist?

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n the debate whether Central and Eastern Europe really exists, what is its specificity, what is the role of social movements, politics, growing intolerance for minorities, lack of trust in public institutions in CEE will be attended by activists from the Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Croatia, Moldova and Hungary. Among the panelists, among others, Boris Buden, Slawomir Sierakowski.

During the four-day meeting we talked about the identity of Eastern Europe and the current situation in Ukraine. During a series of workshops we shared experiences of our everyday work, regarding culture, democracy, tolerance for minorities, right to the city, relationships with the state, strategies for social political and movements as well as gender studies.

The discussion was part of the cycle of debates Levels of Trust in Time To Talk network.

Krytyka Polityczna
Krytyka Polityczna (Political Critique) is the largest Eastern European liberal network of institutions and activists. It consists of the online daily Dziennik Opinii, a quarterly magazine, publishing house, cultural centres in Warsaw, Łódź, Gdańsk and Cieszyn, activist clubs in a dozen cities in Poland (and also in Kiev and Berlin), as well as a research centre: the Institute for Advanced Study in Warsaw.
